| Alba spotted shopping for baby stuf
Jessica Alba and Cash Warren have been seen shopping for baby shoes. The couple — who broke up briefly in July — have sparked rumours they are planning to start a family after browsing in the children's department of a Malibu store. A source revealed, “They seemed really happy to be back together as they shopped. Jessica was picking out shirts for Cash and holding them up against him. Then they started sneaking a peek at a pair of very fashionable looking baby shoes." The Sin City actress — who reportedly called time on their two-and-a-half year romance during an emotional telephone conversation in July — apparently dumped Cash after getting tired of waiting for him to propose. .

KUALA LUMPUR: The much anticipated concert by bootylicious Beyonce Knowles in November has been called off. It is learnt that the concert, which would have been the first by the sexy R&B singer in Malaysia, will not go on as planned, as many organisations are against it. Pineapple Concert chairman Razlan Razali refused to comment but said that a statement would be issued today. The Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage said it was unaware of the status of Beyonce's concert. We have not received any application from the organisers for her performance, so we don't know what is the present status of the concert, said Central Committee for Filming and Performance by Foreign Artiste (Puspal) chief assistant secretary Siti Zaleha Baba.
German town chosen as location for Nicole Kidman film - Feature
Goerlitz, Germany - British film director Stephen Daldry wanted a run-down building with an old-fashioned heating stove and a rear courtyard where a carpenter's workshop could be built. His production team found the ideal location in Landeskronstrasse, a street in the picturesque east German town of Goerlitz, close to the border with Poland. "The director was delighted," remembers Frank Schacher, the estate agent who owned the house that will feature in Daldry's movie adaptation of Berhard Schlink's best-selling novel, The Reader. Schlink, a German writer with a legal background, published The Reader in 1995. It has since been translated into more than 30 languages. Hollywood stars Nicole Kidman and Ralph Fiennes will head the cast in the story about a teenager who has an affair with a woman in her thirties who suddenly vanishes.
After falling behind, Vikings storm to win
Central Cabarrus football coach Glenn Cook figured a wide-open offense would be the best bet for a quick start against Mallard Creek on Friday night. But when the visitors scored a pair of quick touchdowns to grab the lead midway through the first quarter, he went back to the drawing board. The result was a possession-oriented attack that contributed to a 42-21 ME-CA 7 4A victory for the Vikings (3-4, 2-0). "It looked for a while like we were in for more trouble than maybe we thought," Cook said. "We decided the best defense was to keep them off the field." Miguel Lewis scored the first of his two touchdowns for Central Cabarrus at the end of a quick drive following the opening kickoff. But the first-year Mavericks (1-6, 0-2) grabbed a 14-7 lead with touchdowns on consecutive possessions.
Sharon Creech
Sharon Creech is the author of the Newbery Medal winner "Walk Two Moons" and the Newbery Honor book "The Wanderer." Her new novel for ages 8-12, "The Castle Corona" (Joanna Cotler Books; $18.99), is a fairy tale of sorts about the rich and the poor. Caldecott Award-winning artist David Diaz provides luminous illustrations. You can meet the author at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Joseph-Beth Booksellers, 4345 Barclay Downs Drive. Your writing is so lyrical. Do you read sentences aloud as you work? No ... but I hear the rhythm quite clearly in my head. It's a bit like listening to music, and each book has its own rhythm. When you start a new novel and face that blank page, what's the first thing you do? I don't face the blank page until a compelling image and voice is already in my head, and once those are in place, it is easy to leap onto the blank page and let the character talk, to introduce him/herself to me as well as to readers.
