MEIFF will kick off its impressive first annual event on Sunday, October 14th with Joe Wright�s ATONEMENT starring Keira Knightley and James McAvoy. Veteran choreographer Otis Sallid will direct the Opening Night and Closing Night Galas� dance numbers.

"If Britney finally acknowledges that she must face her addictions, then that's the best place, a source told Life and Style Weekly magazine. "It's working for Lindsay, and hopefully Britney will see that as inspiration." The insider also revealed Britney's mother Lynne received an anonymous phone call last week, tipping her off about the singer's drug taking. The source revealed: "It was one of Britney's friends saying he'd seen Britney take four Ecstasy pills in the bedroom of a Hollywood Hills home during a party on August 11.

Although there has been no love lost between the singers in the past, Avril and Britney were seen clubbing together at the Hyde Lounge in West Hollywood. Just four months ago, Avril criticised Britney's fall from grace, saying that the 25-year-old mother of two could not handle the pressures of fame. 'What's happened to Britney is all down to who she is as a person,' Avril said. 'If you want a piece of this business you have to be able to deal with it. You can't complain about the pressures, the paparazzi, the madness, because that's your job.' Avril also lashed out at Britney for dressing 'like a showgirl' and dancing 'like a ho'. Their new friendship comes just four months after Lavigne, 22, criticized Spears for being too weak to handle the pressures of fame.
Referring to the fallen pop superstar's brief stint in rehab, she said, "What's happened to Britney is all down to who she is as a person. If you want a piece of this business you have to be able to deal with it. You can't complain about the pressures, the paparazzi, the madness, because that's your job."
Lavigne has also previously hit out at the 25-year-old mother of two for dressing "like a showgirl" and dancing "like a ho."
But the pop pair managed to put their problems behind them and hours after Spears was ordered to submit to random drug and alcohol tests as part of her ongoing child custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline, the "Toxic" singer was out on the town in Hollywood.
