Hilary Duff lands at LAX airport in her Chanel flats, leading a cartload of Louis Vuitton luggage to a dark SUV on Thursday. Later in the evening, Hil hosted The City of 2007 Hope Spirit Of Life Awards Dinner honoring Buena Vista Music Group Chairman Bob Cavallo. The BVMG includes Hollywood Records, which releases records from a variety of rock, pop, and teen artists such as Hilary Duff, Aly & AJ, Jesse McCartney, Raven Symone, and Vanessa Hudgens. And today is Hilary's 20th birthday! Her hockey-player boyfriend, Mike Comrie, bought her a Mercedes-Benz G-class SUV as an early birthday present. "I opened the garage, and I was just like shocked, just standing there," Hilary told People. "I've driven it tons," she said of her birthday present. "When I called him I was like, 'You're crazy! ‘Sydney White' can't lift Amanda Bynes out of cutesy TV clichés
With "Sydney White," former teen TV sensation Amanda Bynes makes a bid for grown-up stardom. In this case, "grown-up" means her character is still a teenager (but old enough to be in college) and is surrounded by mild PG-13 content. She can't be TOO adult if she wants to keep the "Amanda Show" fan base happy. Bynes' title character is a classic misfit, a down-to-earth tomboy starting her freshman year at a sunny Florida university. Her late mother was in a sorority, but Sydney doesn't quite fit the mold, having been raised by her dad (John Schneider) around his construction crew pals. She's more comfortable with comic books than beauty magazines, and when she tries to pledge as a legacy candidate, she runs afoul of the house's snooty president, Rachel (Sara Paxton).
Sharapova, James Team Up Against Poverty
NEW YORK, NY, USA - Maria Sharapova, a United Nations Development Programme Goodwill Ambassador, has invited NBA star LeBron James to team up against poverty on a new UNDP advertisement, designed to garner support for achieving the eight Millennium Development Goals. Sharapova's work with the UNDP includes promoting international efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goals. Adopted by 189 countries in 2000, the Goals are clear, time-bound targets for achieving measurable improvements in lives of the world's poorest people. They aim at eradicating poverty, putting children in schools, promoting women's rights, fighting killer disease and providing access to safe drinking water. UNDP coordinates global and national efforts to reach these Goals. This ad campaign revolves around the concept of Teaming Up Against Poverty to achieve the MDGs.
