| Longoria feels honoured opening Harrods winter sale
London, Dec 19: Eva Longoria is absolutely delighted to have been asked to open the Harrods winter sale of 2006, which will open to bargain hunters on December 28.The Desperate Housewives' superstar will be accompanied by Harrods' owner Mohammad Al Fayad for opening the world's most famous department."It is such an honour and a privilege to be asked by Mr Al Fayed to join him at the opening of the sale at the world's most famous department store," Longoria told the Daily Telegraph.The other celebrities to have opened the winter sale earlier are former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and British actress Kelly Brook.Looks like Longoria is having a party nowadays as she recently got engaged to football star Tony Parker when he surprised her by landing at her place and placed the marriage proposal surrounded by rose petals and candles.
Kelly gets down to basics

Things that stink: a collapsed sewer - and gov't coverups
Here are two things that stink: a collapsed section in a 125-year-old sewer that runs through the heart of Halifax, and regional council's decision to deal with the problem in secret.
The failure of century-old infrastructure is understandable. The failure of Mayor Peter Kelly and his council cohorts to conduct the people's business in a public forum is unforgivable. It should offend us all as citizens, taxpayers and believers in democracy that Halifax regional council persistently chooses to hide the facts from us.
It's our city and our money - not theirs. They're merely the people we've hired on a four-year contract to manage it. Imagine if you owned a company, and your staff kept making business decisions without telling you.
You'd fire them, wouldn't you?
